We are Like a Rainbow

Continuing with the previous project and exploring the sounds of the letter "s", students realized that there were other animals whose names begin with the same letter as our family of "snails", such as the salamander, however, when observing the salamander Rafael Dovalina came up with a theory that salamanders changed color and his classmate Máximo Doniz told him they don’t, that he was actually referring to chameleons”. And that's when the questions and theories about chameleons began, through guessing and brainstorming.

Students began by creating their own chameleon with the "Loose Parts" technique, where what is sought is that through different recycled materials they tested their creativity and previous knowledge to make their own interpretations.

"¿Cuáles son esos animals?, ¿Pueden cambiar de color?, ¿Cuando se enojan se ponen de color red?, ¿Esos animales pican?, Miren se pegan a los árboles…" By observing videos, books and information about these animals, they were able to clarify some doubts that they had, however, through experimentation and formulation of hypotheses we were experimenting and discovering.

Where do chameleons come from and why do they change colour? The colors for some students came from the emotions that the chameleons felt and saw themselves reflected in them, others thought that they were from what they ate. They continued looking for the color that represented them according to their emotion to later create their chameleon of colors and emotions, where they would see themselves reflected.

During the project we investigate, play and answer our questions...“Los chameleons si comen flys.” Raúl Díaz Through role playing where some students flew like flies and others were chameleons, the students discovered how chameleons eat flies with their sticky tongue as they called it.

Hypotheses began to emerge about the types of houses where chameleons live, so students decided to make houses with branches and dry leaves.

To realize that emotions live within us, each and every one of them is valuable and runs through our body, changing our color, helping us and making us stronger and more special.Empathy, support and respect for others will allow us to see ourselves with different eyes, thus forming students full of colors with a lot of tolerance, love and respect to give.

A key point about chameleons is their changing color skill. Students conclude that chameleons were able to camouflage themselves because of a deep self awareness, therefore, children observed themselves, choose their colors and hey drew themselves in order to recognize their features, feelings and special skills.
