Parts of Speech
What is it?
- Different words play different roles, or jobs, in building a sentence. We call these jobs "parts of speech."
- There are 8 parts of speech. Some words can be considered more than one part of speech, depending on context and usage.
How do we use it?
- Strong readers use their knowledge of parts of speech to break down complex sentences and understand tricky texts.
- Strong writers use their knowledge of parts of speech to write clear and strong sentences that make sense.
