OUTSIDE CONTEXT PROBLEM

You get a message from Schars World saying that they are being attacked by a species called the Dra’Azon. The Dra’Azon seem to be both organic but also highly developed machines powered by AI (Reports vary). Reports from your spies on Schars World suggest that as well as powerful conventional forces the Dra’Azon are able to take control of the minds of other beings and force them to become subservient to the Dra’Azon. The Dra’Azon forces have destroyed many of the cities on Schars World and most of the other cities have surrendered to the Dra’Azon but some cities are continuing to fight back. Your planet has no formal agreement about providing military support to Schars World. Schars World does not have a strong military power, it is primarily a trading planet. Over millions of years gradually the Scharians have allowed the implantation of other species on Schars world. There is a small community of your species on Schars World. Your species do not have the same rights as the native Scharians and the Scharians have been accused of occasional persecution and abuse of your species

Event 1 Do you send military forces forces to help the remaining cities on Schars World? Some advisors are pushing for an attack to drive the Dra’Azon out of Schars World as they argue that once in control of Schar’s World they will then launch a further offensive. Others argue that there is no justification for attacking the Dra’Azon. What do you do? Option A : You decide to send military forces to assist the Scharians and drive out the Dra’Azon Option B : You do not send military help to the Scharians but publicly denounce the actions of the Dra’Azon and secretly send weapons, spies and small teams of special forces to support the Scharians

Event 2 You already have a number of secret agents. If you act on the information provided by your agents then there is a risk that you will blow the cover of your agents and they will be captured by the Dra’Azon. Your agent tells you that she has been put in charge of a Dra’Azon battle group that is going to attack a city and wipe out its population. Option A : Tell the agent to follow the instructions given by the Dra’Azon, destroy the city and maintain her cover Option B : Tell the agent to sabotage the mission and run the risk of being captured by the Dra’Azon?

Event 3 Rumours are spreading within your community that the Dra’Azon are unbeatable and that any war against them will be lost. Option A : Give the population an accurate account of events including battles lost and won and number of casualties. Option B : Maintain a propaganda campaign which focuses on the positives and minimizes the number of casualties.
