PROJECT: 1.1. PEDAGOGICAL CASE STUDY

Should characterize a business situation thoroughly, with the identification of the company and present a compelling and concrete business problem, as well as a pedagogical note.

PROJECT: 1.2. INNOVATIVE BUSINESS PLAN

Presentation of an innovative project enlightened with adequate strategic and market analysis. It is required to produce the marketing, human resources and operations plans together with a financial analysis that proves the economic sustainability of the project. It may include a study of internationalization, expansion, innovation, relocation, among others.

PROJECT: 1.3. IN-COMPANY PROJECT

Solving an organization problem under the scope of management. It can also be a simulation study or modelling the reality or any practical business event. Examples of projects:

• The preparation of an internal business plan for a new product or new market;
• Creation, adaptation, improvement of a performance evaluation model;
• A communication plan for a new product;
• Implementation of a management control system.

Development of a research project. It can be a problem-driven study or literature gap kind of study.

Student Proposal

Presentation of list of topics/advisors by IBS:

• The director of each Masters is responsible for drawing up a list of potential themes/advisors.
• This list should be considered by students as one of the sources of advisors, but they can propose external advisor.

It is up to the student to contact the potential supervisor(s), preferably with a written document, about the project.

RULES:

It is the student who choose the theme and supervisor. If you have any questions, please contact your Masters Director.

The supervisor is not the proofreader. You must know what you write.

The responsibility is yours and you should not expect the supervisor to do your job. The supervisor can only teach you how to do the job in the best way.

The supervisor guides you and helps you choose the right topic, but does not do the thesis for you.

APPROVAL BY ISCTE BUSINESS SCHOOL

In the case of external supervisors, approval by the IBS, by the Director of the Masters, is required. In case of non-approval, the student must reformulate the process, according to the reasons for non-approval.

WORK DEVELOPMENT

The preparation of the work is the responsibility of the student.

Delivery

The supervisor must ensure the orientation according to a plan of activities that should be carried out initially by the candidate and proposed to the supervisor and providing guidance, namely regarding activities to be carried out and dates.

Monitoring may be carried out in face-to-face meetings and/or by other means, including electronic means to be agreed between the parties.

The decision to deliver the work is the responsibility of the student, who must take into account the opinion of the supervisor(s).

DEFENSE

Period of Defense Most defenses should take place between November 1st and December 31st Constitution of the Jury The jury will consist of 3 elements:

• President (coordinator of the master's degree or person to whom he delegates responsibility, obligatorily career doctorate professor).
• Two members, one of which the supervisor and at least one ISCTE career professor

DEFENSE

FORMAT of defending session of evidence

• The maximum time for the session is 60 minutes, and all jury members may intervene.
• The defense of the work is public and begins with an oral presentation by the student, which should not exceed 15 minutes.
• The candidate is given the answer at the same time as used by the jury members.

CLASSIFICATION

• The final result will be failed or approved, with a rating between 10 and 20 values.

TEST REPETITION

• In case of disapproval of the curricular unit of the dissertation or project work, the student can proceed with the new enrollment and the respective payment of tuition fees, provided that it is within the prescribed limits set for the course, and may choose a new supervisor and a new topic or work project.
