How does colonization affect modern independent countries that used to be colonies?

Colonization definitively has a lasting impact on the modern independent countries that used to be colonies. Usually it leads to the creation of unstable infraestructure, economic dependency and also political conflicts and lack of experience in governing.

Well neo-colonialism refers to the involvement of more powerful states in all the domestic affairs of the less powerful ones. How can it be manifest? I can manifest through economic an dpolitical influence, where powerful nations maintain control or exert influence over former colonies or weaker nations, ofthen for their own benefit.

In the case of Cuba, it was initially colonized by Spain and later experienced neo-colonialism under the United States. The United States exerted control over Cuba's economy and political life, leading to dependence and limited sovereignty. The Cuban Revolution brought about a shift in power dynamics, but the effects of colonization and subsequent interventions still shape Cuba's international policies and relationships.
