Meeting the New Neighbors

It is a cloudy Friday in fall, and John and Mary’s family is excited because they will meet their new neighbors this evening. The children come home from school and Mom is preparing her delicious pumpkin pie. With Mom’s help, Mary cleans the pumpkin and takes out the seeds. The pie is ready to go in the oven. About an hour later, something starts to smell delicious. The pumpkin pie is ready. The pie is sweeter than candy.

They walk to the neighbors’ house; the children are more excited than before! A man opens the door and smiles. There is a girl standing next to him, about John’s age. A woman’s hand waves from the back. Mary and her family introduce themselves, and welcome them to the neighborhood, giving them the pumpkin pie.
