What is Emotional Intelligence?
Emotional Intelligence - Definition
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is the ability to identify, understand, and control your feelings. To use emotional intelligence skills means you spend time thinking about how your feelings cause you to act and influence others. EQ is more than being nice to customers. It helps you to stay friendly when working with a difficult person. What does this have to do with the program, or with my job in general? Find out by watching the video
Course Structure / 0I
Father of Emotional Intelligence
In 1995, Daniel Goleman released the book Emotional Intelligence. The book breaks EQ into five pieces. Our program will focus only on self-awareness, self-regulation, and empathy. These three pieces are essential for success in online learning or working from home.
Emotions at Work
You may find job applications make you take a test to see if you are a good fit. These tests give the employer a look into your level of emotional intelligence. Why? Employers know that your level of emotional intelligence means more to your job success than how smart you are. If you want to hear more about how EQ links to job success, watch a 4-minute video of Daniel Goleman talking about two examples.
