Reflections/Thoughts
I shared in my weekly reflection that we can know if students are demonstrating reading and writing readiness when we provide opportunities for play and social interactions. When I reflected on this for my reflection, it encouraged me to want to create more intentional opportunities for play and social interaction for my students this coming school year. This past school year I did give my students “soft start” time in the mornings for them to color and talk to friends, but I do not think I was doing my part and observing them enough. One part of the lecture I loved was the mention of singing songs to help students develop phonemic awareness. I love engaging with phonics songs and always see how it helps my students develop phonemic awarenss and have fun!
