Warm up

Students will check a cartoon and talk about the time when they needed to report what other people had said. They will give examples or possible contexts where they need to change from direct to indirect speech.

A variation for this warm up, teachers can use quotes from famous people and ask students if they know who had said them. You can ask them if they have a favourite quate.

Explanation

Explanation of what the Reported Speech is for, how it is formed , and give examples with different tenses. In this section I chose two different tools. A Voki explaining general aspects of Reported Speech and the infographic with more detailed information about all the changes students need to make when changing from direct to indirect speech. The teacher might need to use the board to give further explanation. (15 min)

Practice exercises

Students will watch part of an episode of the sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" divided into sections so students can have the chance to answer some questions from the video to practice the structures of the Reported Speech ( 10 minutes)

Edpuzzle https://edpuzzle.com/media/64933eb5dd952d4154929737

Students will listen to different chunks of songs and they will have to write down the sentences they hear. Once the have their sentences ready they will have to report them following the structure and process we have seen in class. (15 minutes)
