Did you know artistic gymnastics was first introduced in the year 1894 and is one of the 'original disciplines in the modern Olympic games'. The gymnast who currently has the most gold medals is Larysa Latynina (RUS). The term "artistic gymnastics" emerged in the early 1800s to differentiate this style of gymnastics to styles used in the military.
