We need strategies to improve engagement
We begin to engage when we interact with the content
So we use Interactive Content
Interactive Content?
Interactive content is any type of content — such as quizzes, polls, interactive infographics & videos, and games — that requires and encourages users to actively engage with it rather than passively consume it.
OK. How?
We begin by understanding how and why we interact

Make Decisions
Knowing this what can we do?
Let's look at some strategies we can use to bring greater interactivity into our subjects
Interactive Strategies
Relevance
Interactive Strategies
Relevance
Make sure the content is relevant to the learner. To properly navigate our world, our interactions need to make sense to us. If content is not framed in a relevant context it’s difficult to engage and motivate the learner.
Interactive Strategies
Pull
Interactive Strategies
Pull
Get the learner to pull content in. Most courses tend to push content out. It’s how we usually teach. We push content via learning docs, cheat sheets, videos, lectures, etc. Give them a reason to explore and consume content.

Sustainable Tourism
Adventure Tourism - Dr Robert Nash
Rob had just taken over Sustainable Tourism and found the site full of old content. Topic content was presented on very old PowerPoints with outdated articles, non-existent links, and pixelated images. Both of Rob's Sustainable Tourism, and Adventure Tourism, now use Genially to deliver content, backed up by a few formative quizzes from other online tools

Wine Studies - David Stevens-Castro
David joined Bond in semester 1, 2023, to teach Wine Studies. He wanted to redesign the course and create all new content. Given the time factor, he needed a tool that could quickly create engaging content without a high learning curve.

Accommodation Management
International Food and Beverage Management - Dr Carmen Cox
Carmen attended last years presentation on enhancing content and decided to change her format of using links to PowerPoints. Both of Carmen's subjects now use Genially to deliver content, backed up by other online tools, and content directly written into the topic page to make the page itself engaging to scroll down and read through.
