I am pleased to present my résume as a full time teacher. I will be entering into my 7th year of teaching with a cleared multiple subject (especially reading) teaching credential and a degree in Online Teaching. I have developed into not only a better educator but as a person throughout my 6 years of teaching and am eager to get into the classroom again. I passionately believe every student deserves to have a quality and equitable education. Through productive work environments students can learn by making mistakes and use self refiection as a tool to give students the power to self regulate and become problem solvers themselves. I strongly believe school is a magical place where students explore, create, reflect, and learn from failure. Part of learning is failing through error analysis. I believe learning takes place in a safe environment filled with positivity and understanding of classroom culture.

I love teaching students that making mistakes and failing are actually the best ways to learn. I love showing students real life examples of people who have learned from their mistakes to achieve great things in their communities. Some of my favorite examples to use in class are Stephen Curry, Malala Yousafzai, and Martin Luther King Jr. I strongly believe teachers are role models and should learn from failure and self reflection as well. Students deserve caring and passionate teachers. My long term goals and aspirations are to hold leadership positions to help new and/or struggling teachers through mentorship.

In the initial planning of a unit of work, I first identify and analyze: • the content of learning described in the learning outcomes. • how learning is going to be organised and delivered. • suitable materials and resources that will enhance learning. • how long a unit of work will take to teach. • the various types of learning activities to meet individual needs of students. • suitable assessment tasks to allow students to demonstrate achievement of the outcomes. • the need to be flexible and allow for spontaneous learning. In the units of work I develop: * a community calendar with birthdays and important dates. * a monthly plan that office sends to me. * term/period programs * teaching and learning plans * weekly plan for my students learning skills

EVIDENCE OF EFECTIVE TEACHING

My personal favorite subject to teach is Reading. Throughout the year, students read and study fiction and nonfiction texts to apply in real life. I love to integrate real world scenarios, science, math and social studies for cross curricular lesson design. One of my favorite activities to practice all school year is building Stamina, Story elements and Inferences in Nonfiction. I love to teach most (if not all) my lessons involving KINDNESS acts. This is important to me because we often remind ourselves that it is the most important thing in the world. Other strategies I love using are thinking maps, graphic organizers with my personal favorite being the summarizing nonfiction organizer to read through texts and find supporting details for the main idea. I like to keep a system and routine with reading and English Language Arts lessons.

WHY I TEACH

Through teaching, I am able to demonstrate my passion for learning while promoting lifelong learning to my students. As a teacher, I serve as a role model for my students demonstrating that failure and self reflection is what leads to success.

WHAT I TEACH

Above and beyond the standard curriculum I teach my students' problem solving skills and tools to develop students' emotional intelligence. I teach my students how to understand their emotions, the emotions of others, and an understanding of how their emotions influence their lives fundamentally everyday. Oh and Reading!

I love creating word walls in my classroom. Anchor charts build a culture of literacy in the classroom and make thinking visible by recording content, strategies, processes, cues, and guidelines during the learning process. My main intention with each lesson is to make it as active as possible for the students.Active learning gives students with an opportunity to think about, talk about, and process course material and creates personal connections to the material for students, which increases their motivation to learn.

Sitting groups

I have students sitting in collaborative groups. The reason for this is because I want to relate my classroom to real life. In real world situations, we need to use communication skills to work together or raise a family. Learning to communicate is my main intention in the classroom. Communication is a skill that is taught, and the use of sitting in groups and using sentence stems reinforces this skill allowing for college and career readiness.
