Welcome to SABES Coaching
"Coaching can build will, skills, knowledge, and capacity because it can go where no other professional development has gone before, into the intellect, behaviors, practices, beliefs, values, and feelings of an educator. " - Elena Aguilar
SABES Coaching Mission Statement

Practicing learned skills
Presentation of theory and modeling
Presentation of theory
Joyce and Showers 3 studied four types of PD to determine the effectiveness of each on concept understanding, skill attainment, and applying what was learned to daily work. They found that:
- Traditional PD involving a presentation of theory or modeling by a trainer results in about a 5-10% application of that knowledge or skill in daily practice.
- PD involving practicing learned skills increases application by only 10-15%.
- Contrasted with the impact of coaching, the likelihood that concepts and skills are applied increases to 80-90%.

Research Demonstrates...
“Those of us who intend to practice (coaching) as a vehicle for transformation must be responsible for presenting a clear definition of what it is, who we are, what we do, and why we do it.” ― Elena Aguilar

What happens next?
Coaching is personalized, making each experience unique.
- Typically, once you have been connected to a coach, the two of you will exchange emails and talk in person or remotely.
- The coach will help you identify your coaching goals and set an action plan.
- Together, you will decide on action items and a schedule of check-in dates and an end date.
- In most cases, you will be expected to reflect as you move through the process, recording your reflections for the coach to read and respond to.
- Depending on your coaching goal and preferences, the coach may also observe you in practice and offer you feedback.
- At the end of the coaching experience, you will assess the extent to which you reached your goal and decide what your next steps will be.
"…promotes the implementation of learning and reciprocal accountability." - Elena Aguilar
