A gift from Twin, this is where Xiomara writes down all of her poems and thoughts. It is one of her most prized possessions.
Xiomara faces her own sexuality throughout the book. She is objectified both in and outside of school by men, and she has had to learn how to survive as a woman before she got to stop being a child.
Xiomara comes from a Catholic family and she is affected by how women are viewed in the church. Her mother is very keen on the church, while Xiomara questions a lot of the beliefs.
Xiomara's favorite food.
Xiomara's family is Dominican. Xiomara is influenced by Afro-Latinx cultures as evidenced in the music she listens to, the references she makes, and her moral systems.
