Description

Le palais des bulles

Théoule-sur-Mer

Antti Lovag's Palais Bulles is a 1,200 m2 bubble house-style villa by the Mediterranean Sea in Théoule-sur-Mer, in the Estérel mountains, originally designed for Pierre Bernard. The structure includes almost all the living areas intended for residential accommodation, but is also equipped with large panoramic rooms for common use, an internal conference room, a cafeteria, a wellness center, a reception and a large underground garage. As with the exterior, most interiors are bright pink.

Designed in 1975 then built between 1979 and 1984 by the architect Antti Lovag, on boulevard de l'Esterel in Théoule-sur-Mer, the Palais Bulles, with a thousand portholes, is in fact the third house of its kind built by the atypical architect This is the second commission from the wealthy industrialist Pierre Bernard to the architect Antti Lovag, but the latter had already experimented with his design techniques in a first house built in Tourrettes-sur-Loup commissioned by Antoine Gaudet, nicknamed the Maison des Bubbles. The wealthy client wanted this extravagant work because he was already familiar with Antti Lovag's innovative architectural concepts. Indeed, in 1971, he had already had him build, not far from there, his personal house called Maison Bernard, today a museum.
