What is the global food crisis?
Global Food Insecurity
Food insecurity has been rising since 2018 and millions of people are going hungry around the world. Food production and distribution has caused the price to increase which hurts families who cannot afford to feed the household (Georgieva, 2022).

Millions Facing Hunger
According to the World Food Programme, there are over 800 million people who go hungry each day and night acorss the world. The most that suffer are from low-income countries because of their economic challenges and weak business models (Georgieva, 2022).

Countries Exposed to Food Insecurity
The red areas are considered "hunger hotspots". These countires rely on Ukraine and Russia for their food. These countires are most affected by the price increase (Georgieva, 2022).
