Job resume/Cv

In this task we created a job offer and then uploaded our CV to it. After that, we conducted an interview for it to practice speaking This would be useful in the future for interviews to get a job, since we now know how to conduct ourselves in an interview and how our Curriculum Vitae should be organized. I will demonstrate what we've learnt by writing up a dialogue for a job interview

Interviewee: Hello, is this the place for the job interview? Interviewer: Yes, it is! Are you here for the position of assistant-to-manager? EE: Yes, I am! ER: Very well, just sit down right there and we'll get started. What's your experience in Administration for large teams? Are you a good team player? EE: Yes. I have worked in Administration for years, and I have quite the experience having to cooperate with other people. You'll find this information in my CV, which I have also printed after I sent it to you. ER: Nicely done. I see here you listed in references the University of Stanford. Pretty prestigious, would you mind telling me about your time there? EE: Of course. I studied Administration and Economics there and spent some time working with the main secretary of the university. It was quite enjoyable! ER: Very. Well, I'll give you this news, I think you've got the job. EE: Really? ER: Of course, I don't joke. Just have to formalize this in a document and fix the documentation and in the next week, you'd receive the phone call. EE: Well, thank you! I'll be waiting! ER: No problem!

SPy Balloon

This task was to read a newspaper article about a chinese spy/weather balloon flying over US territory, and it being shot down by the US Airforce, and then answering questions about what we read. This task would be helpful in the future to be able to talk about the news, which are a very important source of information. To demonstrate that, I will make a small article about local news

Breaking News:Two days ago, an unidentified flying object was seen flying over the western coast of the United States. Today, the government has issued a statement identifying it as a chinese spy balloon. The Chinese government has responded to the accusation saying that it was an unmanned weather balloon that flew off course. The US government hasn't backed down from the accusation and has given a statement about its intentions to shoot down the suspicious object. More on this news as it develops.

Bilingual Week

For the "Bilingual Week", we did a meteorological workshop with different measuring devices explained by different groups. I ended up doing the vast majority of the digital presentation, and I learned about atmospheric pressure and the weather in general This was useful to improve our speaking ability and to know how to explain more complicated topics and the weather. To demonstrate, I will do a Weather Forecast:

For this morning we have a temperature of around 20ºC with cloudy skies. We expect some light rain for the afternoon with some higher atmospheric pressure, which might give some of you a headache. There seem to be strong winds coming from the West, with a big cold front interacting with a smaller one. It seems like the cold is going to stay for an extra couple of weeks, so you might want to keep those winter blankets for a while!

Budget

A very small activity. We did a small sheet calculating our finances with our savings, or with our imagined economy. Being able to talk about money and savings is incredibly important in modern society, it's quite literally what our lifes depend on. There isn't much to say about it. A product using these terms is just that we have our savings, the amount we gained added to those savings (income) and the amount we spent deducted from those savings, such as taxes or purchases, and then the amount of savings we want to have

All in all, this trimester we've learned some important topics in English, which we will most likely use in the future. I think this is a good place to end off the semester, and can't wait for more after it!
