the definition of genre:

Genre is defined as, "category or artistic, musical, or literary composition characterized by a particular style, form or content." (Webster's Dictionary)

The genres in our media center

Fiction:
Nonfiction:
A made up story from the imagination of the writer.
Based on facts and real people.
  • Realistic Fiction
  • Historical
  • Sci-Fi
  • Fantasy
  • Mystery
  • Graphic Novels
  • Manga
  • Informational
  • Biography
  • Graphic Novels

Remember!

Graphic novels can be in Fiction and Nonfiction genres.

Take for example, the graphic novel, "March" by Representative John Lewis. This book would be considered nonfiction because it is the life story of a real person and events.
