Introduction
Introdution
Immigration has been a significant subject of discussion throughout human history. The act of migrating to countries such as the U.K has numerous advantages, particularly in terms of education, job opportunities, and access to healthcare. Residing in a cosmopolitan, developed nation provides immigrants with the chance to not only explore new possibilities but also broaden their horizons. Simultaneously, the host country benefits from gaining diverse cultural perspectives and the opportunity to utilize the expertise and talents of individuals from around the world. As first or second-generation immigrants residing in the Netherlands, we have embarked on this research project to delve into this specific topic. It holds great relevance for us due to our personal experiences, and we are curious to explore whether the U.K offers the same level of welcoming and inclusiveness as our current host country does.

Is the UK welcome to immigrants?
This is a very difficult and nuanced question, there are bound to be good and bad experiences, and one has to consider multiple aspects when covering this topic, like age, race, language skills etc. Our interviewee, who is an immigrant in the UK has had no problems with people around him (Personal communication) though one person's experience can't dictate everyone's. This interviewee said his experience has been quite positive, some locals start up conversations randomly and most of the community is used to immigrants because of the university located nearby (Personal communication).
Public's reaction to immigration
Then vs now
According to Blinder and Allen (2016), immigration had been ranked among the top five concerns of the public. This was around the time of the Brexit referendum. The public's opinion has drastically changed since then, after Brexit, the UK had fewer immigrants which impacted the economy and many have reconsidered their views and started seeing immigration in a more positive light (Portes, 2021).
