Seven awards at the 3rd Platino Awards to recognise the best Ibero-American films of 2015. Platino Award for Best Ibero-American Film. In 2016 the film was submitted as Colombia's entry for the category of Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards, becoming the first Colombian film ever to receive a nomination for an Academy Award.
USA 2022 Winner Oscar Best Animated Feature Film The film's soundtrack also became a success, reaching number one on the US Billboard 200 and UK Compilation Albums charts; "We Don't Talk About Bruno" topping both the US Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart for multiple weeks.
The film is a sample of the biodiversity of Colombia, recorded in 85 different locations to achieve the portrait of 20 ecosystems.
It won the Golden Pheasant Award for the Best Film at the sixteenth International Film Festival of Kerala. The film was selected as the Colombian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 84th Academy Awards.
Colombia won its first Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film. The film adaptation of Héctor Abad Faciolince's acclaimed memoir and cult novel, directed by Spanish Oscar-winner filmmaker Fernando Trueba (Belle Époque).
It was selected in 2020 Cannes Film Festival. The Goya Award was accepted by producer Dago García and director Trueba.
