From a political point of view, the United Kingdom is considered and configured as a monarchical constitution. This means that although there is a king or queen in the head of state, he or she has the prerogative and therefore the power to reign exclusively with the support of the
Parliament
THE PARLIAMENT
From this arises the great importance of the parliament, which is the fundamental constitutional body among those in force in England since it determines the laws to which the British people are called to answer.
It is divided into three distinct
sections: the house of commons, the house of lords and the sovereign
THE HOUSE OF COMMONS
The House of Commons is elected by universal suffrage and consists of 659 members of parliament. The main purpose of the House of Commons is to legislate through various acts (of parliament), as well as discuss current political issues. The current party in parliament has the prerogative to hold power for a maximum period of five years. At the end of this term a general election must be held to renew the houses of parliament. The seat of the House of Commons is the Palace of Westminster, in London. It is the only place in the whole of the United Kingdom where, by tradition, the sovereign is not allowed to set foot.
THE QUEEN OR KING
The queen or king:-is the head of state of the United Kingdom plus others
15 Commonwealth countries - is the head of the Commonwealth, organization of 53 former colonies
of the British Empire - is the head of the Church of England - is the head of the armed forces - has the right to be consulted and to advise the ministries - meets the Prime Minister every week -appoints the Prime Minister, the minister and other charges
CHARLES III
Charles III is King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of the fourteen other Commonwealth realms. Eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Philip of Edinburgh, he belongs to the House of Windsor
THE HOUSE THE LORDS
The House of Lords consists of the Spirituals Lords and the Temporal Lords. There are 1165 members, including the two Archbishops of Canterbury and York and the 24 bishops. There are also 103 peer women.
Lords Temporal consist of all hereditary peers of England, Scotland, Great Britain and the United Kingdom. The room of the
Lords is headed by the Lord Chancellors.
All members of the House of Lords have a duty to review bills
common. In other words, all proceedings that have been initiated in the House of Commons
they are sent to the House of Lords for approval.
The House of Lords, like the House of Commons, meets in the Palace of Westminster.
THE PRIME MINISTER
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the head of government of the United Kingdom and exercises executive power and some of the functions historically entrusted to the monarch who is the head of state.
Rishi Sunak is the current Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
GENERAL ELECTIONS
General elections are held every five years.People over the age of 18 can vote and anyone over the age of 21 can stand for election as a member of parliament.
The party with the the most seats in the House of Commons is in power and forms the Government. The second largest party becomes the Opposition and forms the Shadow Cabinet.
All the laws are discussed in the Commons, in the House of Lords and after that signed by the King/Queen.
