Understanding Adult Learning Theories
Andragogy, or the adult learning theory, describes an adult learner as a person who can direct their own learning, uses their experiences to support their learning, has learning needs that are related to social roles, has a desire to immediately put knowledge to action, and is intrinsically motivated to learn (Merriam, 2001).
