If the problem is still not resolved, alternate gestures between 1 to 5 back blows and 1 to 5 abdominal thrusts.
If back blows have no effect, give 1 to 5 abdominal thrusts.
Analyze your child's condition: Check to see if he can still talk, cough and breathe.
Give 1 to 5 Back blows until everything comes back to normal.

Your partner is cooking when, trying to boil water, he suddenly burns himself. What should you do?

Solution
Remove clothing/jewelry as long as they are not stuck to the skin.
If the burn is severe (extensive, deep...), call the emergency services.
Put the burn under clean running water for at least 10 minutes, ideally 20 minutes.
Protect the burn with a clean bandage or cloth.
Note: do not apply ice as this may aggravate the burn and if the burn has blisters, leave them intact and seek a medical advice.

Your colleague suddenly cuts herself while working and she is now bleeding heavily. What should you do?
SoluTIOn
Solution
Lay the injured person down in a horizontal position.
Ask someone to call for help, or do it yourself if you are alone while continuing the compression.
Or, apply direct pressure with a layer of clean cloth/disposable gloves/ to protect your hands.
Wash your hands after performing first aid.
If possible, avoid contact with your colleague's blood. Ask her to compress the wound herself.
Reassure your colleague and explain to her what is happening.

You are walking down the streets when you find someone on the ground. He seems unconscious but is still breathing. What should you do?

Solution
Check that the person is breathing normally. Look for chest or abdominal movement; listen for breathing sounds; feel for air on your cheek for up to 10 seconds.
Monitor the person for any changes in their breathing or level of response until help arrives.
Analyze the person's condition.
Clear his airway.
Ask someone to call for help, or do it yourself if you are alone.
Turn the person on his side into the recovery position.

You witness an accident. You get closer to the scene and you realize that one of the persons affected has lost consciousness. She does not react and seems not to breathe normally. What should you do?

Solution
Start immediately performing 30 chest compressions with a regular rate of 100–120 compressions per minute.
Analyze the person’s condition.
Then perform 2 rescue breaths.
Open the person’s airway.
Alternate gestures of 30 chest compressions and 2 breaths. Continue CPR until help arrives or the person shows signs of normal breathing.
Check that the person is breathing normally.. Look for chest or abdominal movement; listen for breathing sounds; feel for air on your cheek for up to ten seconds.
Use the AED as soon as it is available and follow its instructions.
if there’s no breathing after 10 seconds, call for help or ask someone to call for help and bring the nearest AED.

You were playing with your mates at school and one of them fell over and grazed his knee. What should you do?

Solution
Wash your hands with soap and water before administering first aid.
Protect the wound with an adhesive bandage.
If available, use disposable gloves.
Advise the injured person to seek medical attention if the wound becomes red, hot or painful.
Rinse the wound under warm water, with or without soap, to clean it.
Wash your hands after performing first aid.
An antiseptic, acquired on the advice of a healthcare provider, may also be used.

You see a fellow falling down the stairs. The person is suffering from a head, cervical or dorsal trauma. What should you do?

Solution
Follow the instructions given by the emergency services and keep an eye on the injured person.
Ask someone to call for help, or do it yourself if you are alone.
Calm the injured person down and convince him or her not to move.
