American Indians introduced new crops to American culture like corn, beans, and squash. The American Indians also had environmental knowledge to use herbs for cooking and medicine. They also had lots of knowledge of hunting, cooking, and farming. Much of their knowledge continues to be used!

Enslaved people had agricultural knowledge like how to grow rice. Many enslaved people had musical traditions that became important like drums, banjos, and spiritual songs. Folktales, nursery rhymes, and storytelling became important (ex. Brer Rabbit). Many enslaved people built lots of buildings and parts of towns.
