COMPARATIVELY SPEAKING

Positive, comparative, superlative, WOW! Adjectives and adverbs, Show us how We can use to compare All sorts of things from everywhere. It Jane runs fast And June has passed her, You would know that June runs faster But the fastest runner in the race Passed them both and takes first place! Positive, comparative, superlative, WOW! Use all three to compare now: Joe´s jacket´s green. Jake´s jacket is greener. But the greenest jacket belongs to Jim Beaner

ADVERBS

Verbs agree that we are terrific, Adverbs make verbs more specific. Adverbs appear hear and there to tell you when, and how, and where. Words like very, more, quite, so Are adverts you should also know!

PRONOUNS

Pronouns are ready to take place Of any noun in the grammar race. Altouth we may wear different suits, all pronouns are noun substitutes. Each pronoun promises, "I will agree witch whichever noun comes ahead of me" So please don´t speak as if a pronoun needn´t even have an antecedent! You will see how good your game will be, If you learn to us properly

CONJUNCTIONS

Conjunctions always make connections. They link thoughts and give directios. Two conjunctions, But and and are conjunctions whose funcitons Are in great demand. There are rarer conjunctions. Please don´t forget Nevertheless, therefore, thus, yet!.

the capital letter

If you start a new sentence, Or a line of verse, A capital letter must always come first. And for days of the week, And months of the year, A capital letter must always appear. For tittles and names of particular things, Particular places, countries, and kings. Remember this capital rule to apply, And speak of yourself with a capital I.

the GANG OF THREE

At the end of a sentence, what do you see? It´s always one of the gang of three. THE PERIOD The period is just a dot, But it gets to do a lot. A period is at the end each time you make a statement, friend. THE QUESTION MARK When does a question mark appear? When do you ask a question, dear? What do question marks all show? There´s something someone wants to know. THE EXCLAMATION POINT (Use sparingly to be dramatic) Let´s go, grammar! Pitch that ball! Batter, bat it! Hey, that play´s a real sensation! It deserves an exclamation!

the COMMA

To separate, To pause, To wait, to add a bit of drama, there´s nothing that can do these things more deftly than a comma.

APOSTROPHE

I must confess my strange obsession. I join with "s" to show possesion. Now Nora can´t claim Peter´s poodles, And Peter won´t eat Nora´s noodles. Contract! Possess! Ah, yes, that´s me! I may look like a comma, But I´m an a apostrophe!
