The way in Llanes

Our experience

St James Way

The St James Way started in year 820, when Alfonso II, king of Asturias in those times, recieved the notice of the discovery of the remainings of the Santiago Apostle in current Santiago de Compostela, Galicia.Inmediately, he went there to confirmate by himself the discovery and to worship him. After confirmating it, he ordered to build a tomb for the Apostle in Santiago, and when the notice reached all over the world, a lot of people started to pilgrimage to Santiago in order to worship the remainings of the Apostle. Nowadays, most people do it as a way of doing sport and tourism.

The way in Llanes

Llanes is one of the villages that the way goes through, so we have researched about almost all the towns through that it passes in the council and selected their places with most touristic or historic interest. Our experience

During Easter Week, Aitana did by bike a 4 day track of St James Way between Llanes and Avilés with his father. She remembers it as a nice experience where she did sport and met a lot of towns and villages and also a lot of kind people that helped them in everything they needed.
