We use ADVERBS OF MANNER to say HOW people do things.WE SPEAK ENGLISH WELL. SHE EATS VERY QUICKLY Adverbs usually go AFTER the verb or verb phrase. I WORK HARD. HE DANCES BADLY.

WE NORMALLY FORM ADVERBS BY ADDING -ly TO ADJECTIVES.SLOW - SLOWLY - QUIET- QUIETLY BAD- BADLY Consonant +Y: y + -ily EASY- EASILY HEALTHY- HEALTHILY. People don´t eat healthily.

EXAMPLES

You dance very well. My father drives fast. Could you speak slowly please? I need to work hard.

MODIFIERS (VERY, QUITE, REALLY)

We use the adverbs VERY, QUITE, REALLY to modify adjectives or other adverbs. They always go before the adjective or adverb.

EXAMPLES

It isn´t really expensive.He drives incredibly fast. The exams are quite difficult.

BE CAREFUL!

Some words that end in -ly aren´t adverbs, e.g. friendly, ugly = adjective He´s a friendly person.
