New Zealand is an island country located in the southwest Pacific Ocean, consisting of two large main islands, the North Island and the South Island, along with several smaller islands. The first inhabitants of New Zealand are believed to have been the Mãoris peoples, who arrived in the country around the thirteenth century from the Pacific islands. It's also worth noting that its capital is Wellignton, altough it once was AuckLand.

History

The discovery of New Zealand Island

The discovery of New Zealand is usually attributed to Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, who saw the islands in 1642. However, it was British Captain James Cook who made a more detailed exploration of New Zealand.
