DrAcula
Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to close a real estate deal with a mysterious earl who has just bought several properties in London. After a journey plagued with ominous signs, Harker is picked up at the Borgo Pass by a sinister carriage that will take him, lulled by the song of wolves, to a castle in ruins. Such is the disturbing beginning of a masterful novel that gave birth to one of the most popular and powerful myths of all time: Dracula.

Literary movement
Dracula is a novel of Gothic literature (literary genre originated in England at the end of the 18th century, related to the horror genre. Gothic narrative or gothic fiction, which is widely known by the subgenre of Gothic terror, is a genre or mode of literature and film that combines fiction and horror, death and sometimes romance).
Book vs film
1. In the book it is read how Jonathan gives a letter to some gypsies so that they give it to Mina and they end up giving it to Dracula, which makes him his prisoner. This doesn't happen in the film. 2. In the novel several blood transfusions are given to Lucy, whereas in the film only one. 3. In the novel there are several visits to Lucy's grave, but instead in the film there is only one. 4.In the novel it doesn't tell us the story of Dracula in detail, for example he does not tell us that he is an emperor named Vlad, while in the movie it does. 5.In the film there is a love story plot between Mina and Dracula which is not in the novel; This leads us to the following difference: 6.There is a scene in the novel in which Mina is forced to drink the blood of Jonathan, who is passed out next to her; in the movie, Mina does it because of her love for Dracula. 7. In the novel, Dracula is considered simply a monster and his character is not as developed as in the movie, since in it he would have feelings and has more prominence.
Main characters
JONATHAN HARKER
JOHN SEWARD
DRACULA
MINA MURRAY
Space and time
The story takes place in Romania (Transylvania) and London mainly. It goes from May 3rd (Jonathan's arrival in Transylvania) until November 6th.
Narrator and style
There is not just one narrator. All the characters narrate at least one chapter since it is an epistolary novel and includes the diaries and shorthand of each one of the characters; so they are omniscient narrators since they are the ones who tell you the story and it is in 1st person. The language is simple although you can find words that you don't know what they mean but it doesn't affect the story.
Characteristics of romanticism
1. Highlight the sentiment.2. There is a symbolism (blood) as a vital form. 3. There is a yearning for freedom like when Mina is bitten and she doesn't want to marry Jonathan. 4. The exaltation of the individual self (Dracula bites girls to be her master). 5. Feeling of loneliness like when Jonathan does not send letters to Mina (she feels a deep loneliness) . 6. There are adventurous and challenging characters. 7. Identification with nature (Dracula can make it foggy, for example when he was on the boat). 8. Gloomy landscapes (Dracula's Castle, the cemetery...).
Opinion
I found this book quite entertaining, although it is true that sometimes it was a bit boring for me (depending on the scene). I chose this book because vampires have always caught my attention and I wanted to know how was the"original" one. I liked the characters considering the time they were in, although what I didn't like was how women only lived by and for men; although I liked Mina's character a lot. In general, it has been a pretty good book that I would like to read more calmly later.
The End
