Curiosities:

  • The vaquita is the smallest known cetacean species, with adults reaching lengths of only around 4 to 5 feet (1.2 to 1.5 meters) and weighing approximately 90 pounds (40 kilograms).
  • "Vaquita" means "little cow" in Spanish, referring to the species' small size and the characteristic dark patches around its eyes and lips that resemble the markings of a cow.
