“La piel humana proporciona al organismo protección mecánica frente a los agentes externos, por la resistencia de su estrato córneo y por el conjunto de fibras colágenas y elásticas que la integran. Lo defiende frente a agentes físicos, químicos, radiaciones, bacterias, hongos y virus. Está encargada de regular la absorción de sustancias; interviene como barrera a nivel epidérmico, y regula el medio interno, manteniendo constante la temperatura y la composición físicoquímica del cuerpo humano.”
