Introduction
Formally, Cuba is a Republic. That is the name of the country and it is internationally recognised as such. The power exercised by Fidel Castro was more like a monarchy than a republic. However much Fidel tried to disguise the power structures to simulate a participatory and elective democracy and appointed his brother Raúl as his successor when he appeared to be seriously ill, and the fact that the uncrowned king for life is succeeded by his brother, is typical of a hereditary monarchy. The reign of Castroism has also had the main features of an absolute monarchy in the best style of the Middle Ages, exercising its power without restrictions and without division of powers. Fidel Castro is also at the top of the judiciary, removing and appointing judges, who owe him total obedience. While modern kingdoms have been democratised into constitutional and parliamentary monarchies, our Caribbean quasi-monarchy is at the same time a tyranny.

The Cuban peso historically circulated at par with the Spanish-American silver dollar from the 16th to 19th centuries, and then at par with the U.S. dollar from 1881 to 1959. The Castro government then introduced the socialist planned economy and pegged the peso to the Soviet ruble. The national currency in Cuba is the Cuban Peso (CUP). One Cuban Peso is equivalent to 0.039 euros. There are bills of 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 pesos, as well as fractional coins of 1, 3 and 5 pesos and 5 and 20 cents.

The province of "Holguín" is one of the 15 provinces of Cuba. It is located in the north east of the island, with a population of over one million inhabitants. Holguín is the third largest province in the country, with an area of 9300.6 km². It is the place where Admiral Christopher Columbus arrived in Cuba in 1492 (Bariay).
"Santiago de Cuba" is a city and municipality of Cuba, located in the east of the island. It is the second most important city in the country due to its economy and population. It was the first capital of Cuba.
"La Habana" is the capital of Cuba and it's caracterized by its main port, its economic and cultural centre and its main tourist centre. It is the most populous city in the country with a population of 2,492,618 inhabitants in 2022, and the most populous in the Caribbean region.
"Camagüey" is the easternmost, largest and flattest province in the centre of the island of Cuba. Its economy grew during the 17th century thanks to sugar production and cattle breeding.
It is a dish entirely characteristic of parties and gatherings as it is perfect for the whole crowd to enjoy. It contains different types of meat, chicken, bacon, corn, yam, green bananas, malanga, yucca, sweet potato, pumpkin, onion, garlic, lemon, tomato sauce, water, lard and salt.
Cuban ropa vieja has its origins in Spanish gastronomy, which is made with chickpeas. This recipe is also very popular in Panama, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay and many other Latin American and Caribbean countries and also in Portugal, where it is made with cod. However, in Cuba, it is made with meat, onion, pepper, garlic, cumin powder, oregano, red wine, dry wine, tomato puree and oil.
This dessert is often eaten by Cuban children. In Spain and other regions of America it is also known as suspiros de merengue or simply suspiros. This dessert is made with sugar, egg and lemon.
