Living things
UNIT ONE
Identifying living things
In our world there are living and non- living things . People, animals, and plants are living things. You are a living thing.
Natural non- living things
Some non-living things are natural, which means that people don't make them. Water, air and rocks are natural non-living things.
Man-made non living things
Other non-living things are man-made, which means that people make them. Car, buildings and clothes are man made non-living things.
All living things have three life processes
REPRODUCTION
INTERACTION
NUTRITION
All living things need food for energy and to grow.People and animals eat plants or other animals. Plants use sunlight to make their own food.
All living things reproduce .Reproduction means making new living things.
All living things interact.Moving, touching and communicating are some forms of interacction.
Like all living things, people have three life processes
REPRODUCTION
INTERACTION
NUTRITION
People reproduce and have babies. A mother usually has one baby at a time, but sometimes she can have two or more!
We have contact with other people every day. We can talk to each other and we can show and say how we feel.
We need to eat a balanced diet and have regular meals to give us energy to grow, work and play.
Make a healthy menu
Life processes
Animals
Animals interact with each other, with their surroundings and with people. They walk, swim or fly to find food and shelter. Some animals live in groups for protección, but other animals live alone. Although animals can`t speak like people, they can make sounds and use movement to comunicate.
Animals can´t make their own food. Some animals eat other animals, some animals eat plants and there are some animals that eat both animals and plants.
Herbivores
Some animals eat plants.
Carnivores
Some animals eat animals.
Omnivores
Some animals eat animals and plants
Some animals are born live while other animals are born from eggs. Big animals usually have one or two babies, but small animals can have lots of babies.
How plants interact
Like people and animals, plants have three life proceses: nutrition, interaction and reproduction. Plants use sunlight, water and nutrients in the soil to make their own food.
