Education is divided into the following stages:

  • primary school (age 5-11)
  • secondary school (age 12-16)
  • sixth form (age 17-18)
  • university
Education is compulsory for all children between 5 and 16

In most states education is divided into three stages:

  • elementary school
  • junior high school (middle school)
  • senior high school (high school)
