LASHING

Lashing is defined as the action of stabilising or attaching a mass, vehicle or other, during transport

4 TYPES OF LASHING

Directive 2014/47/EU

• PRESSURE (rubbing): use with ratchet straps generally
• DIRECT (diagonal): use with chain slings generally, by also with fabric straps
• LOCKING: locking against the walls with wedges
• MIXED: combination of the 3 lashing methods above

• Set up by Germany for the EU after an increasing number of accidents
• Obligation to implement European standard EN12195
• In France, 2022, implementation of training for security forces on lashing (identical for technical inspection)
• Financial sanctions and vehicle immobilisation for failing to meet the standard
