Introduction to Present Perfect
Present perfect is a verb tense used to describe actions or events that occurred at an unspecified time in the past or have ongoing relevance to the present. This tense is formed by using the auxiliary verb 'have' or 'has' followed by the past participle of the main verb.
Uses of Present Perfect
Present perfect is commonly used to talk about experiences, accomplishments, and changes that have happened in someone's life. It can also be used to describe actions that began in the past and continue up until now, or to talk about recent events that have an impact on the present.
Difference between Present Perfect and Past Simple
While both present perfect and past simple are used to talk about past events, they differ in their focus. Past simple is used to describe specific actions or events that occurred at a definite time in the past, while present perfect is more concerned with the present result or consequence of those actions.
I have eaten too many tacos. I'm full.
I ate some tacos last night.
