Let's pack!!!! 8th -15th June
Valmontone - Italy

Our journey together is about to end. We have learnt lots of interesting things about our European peers but visiting their countries is different. So let's pack and leave. We can't wait!!!! We are taking the coach to Palermo airport on 8th June. We are leaving from "Falcone e Borsellino" airport at 11:30 and we are arriving at "Fiumicino" airport at 12:45, in Rome. We are taking the train to Valmontone at 14:00 . The ticket costs 11 euros and the journey takes one hour and 10 minutes. On 15th July we are taking the train to Rome airport. The flight is at 9:15 We are arriving in Palermo at 10:20. Then we are taking the coach to Gangi...tired but happy!!!!! In June there will be a maximum of 26 degrees and a minimum of 18, so we will have to bring 5 or 6 T-shirt, 2 or 3 pairs jeans, a jacket, a sweater, 2 pyjamas, a swimsuit, 1 beach towel, sunglasses, 1 pair of slippers and a few books to do something during the trip.
We will try some of the typical dishes: 1. Abbacchio alla cacciatora It is ideal for those who want to make a light and tasty second course based on meat; is the perfect course: lamb, a glass of wine, rosemary and garlic, an hour of cooking and the dish is ready to be served. 2. Cetrioli alla crema Divide the cucumbers, remove the pulp and cut them, mix cucumbers, yoghurt, the juice of half a lemon, salt and pepper: obtain a thick cream, keep it in the fridge. When ready to serve, divide it and serve it with slices of biscuit bread on the side. 3. Coda alla vaccinara Born in the Roman Testaccio district, where the Vaccinari lived, it is a dish that requires accuracy and arises from the need to make a cheap and difficult to cook meat palatable, the idea of stew with sellero (celery) is the right solution. 4. Fregnacce reatine Mix flour and cold water and knead for 20', let it rest for 30', roll out a sheet and cut it into irregular lozenges. Chop the lard, onion and celery, brown it in a saucepan with the extra virgin olive oil. Boil the lozenges, toss them in the mixture and serve hot. 5. Garofalato Lard the bacon, roll the ox muscle in salt, pepper and minced garlic; insert cloves. Put the minced white lard and the oil and the meat in a saucepan: brown well. Deglaze with dry white wine, add water, tomatoes, cloves and coarse salt: seal with aluminum foil and a weight on top: cook for 180'. Half an hour before the end of cooking, check the density of the liquid and the salt, when the meat is cold, cut it into slices, immerse it in the sauce and heat it.
