Jerusalem
The work of LWF Jerusalem started in 1948 and continues to serve the Palestinian people. LWF owns and operates the Augusta Victoria Hospital, offering specialized care, including radiation therapy, pediatric hemodialysis and outreach work in the West Bank. The Vocational Training Program supports Palestinian youth to access training and employment. Among future plans are offering affordable housing in Jerusalem and improving the climate footprint.

Poland
During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, LWF quickly established an emergency operation in Poland to aid refugees fleeing from war. LWF Poland's main priorities include providing emergency relief items, multipurpose cash assistance, mental health and psychosocial support, education, and trauma and stress referrals. LWF Poland works in six locations across the country, collaborating extensively with local stakeholders.

Chad
In Chad since July 2007, LWF World Service supports refugees from Sudan, Nigeria, and Central African Republic as well as Internally Displaced Persons, returnees, and host communities. LWF Chad implements various projects: In livelihoods (agricultural inputs, income-generating activities, vocational training programs), in protection and social cohesion, and in quality services (access to water, education).

Haiti
LWF has been present in Haiti since 1995. In order to maximize efficiency and impact, LWF has formed a joint program with DKH and NCA since 2017. The joint office responds to needs caused by natural disasters and social, economic, and environmental crises, through joint projects in the areas of water, sanitation and hygiene, livelihoods, climate adaptation, food security, and disaster risk reduction.

Prague
LWF Prague is a technical and advisory support hub for LWF World Service since 2021. Global subject matter specialists work with different LWF Country Programmes and HQ in Geneva. Key areas of our support include Complaint Response Mechanism (CRM) , Digital learning, Humanitarian operations, SharePoint Management, Program Support, Communications, and other services upon need. Since its establishment LWF Prague has also developed relationships with faith-based communities and like-minded stakeholders, including the LWF member church and its diverse diaconal structures in the Czech Republic.

Syria
LWF has been engaged in Syria in various ways; in the period 1952 - 1976 to aid refugees and host communities, since 2012 in neighboring countries to support refugees and again, within Syria since 2019. Partnering with organizations in Damascus and Aleppo, LWF offers essential services, from food to education. Following the 2023 earthquake, LWF expanded partnerships, delivering critical aid such as health services, mental support, and assistance in schooling and shelter.

Central America

Cameroon - Central African Republic

Ukraine
In response to the crisis in Ukraine, LWF Ukraine has established humanitarian operation in Kharkiv and Chernihiv oblasts in the areas of Shelter rehabilitation, Winterization, Education/school rehabilitation, Protection, Multipurpose Cash Assistance and Livelihoods. LWF Ukraine aims to support internally displaced persons and other affected communities operating through two offices in Kyiv and Kharkiv cities.

Kenya-Somalia
LWF Kenya-Somalia works in Kakuma Refugee Camp since 1992, and in Dadaab camp since 2008. In 2017 the program opened an office in Kismayu, Somalia, responding to the drought and in support of Internally Displaced, local populations and Somali refugees returning home. LWF Kenya-Somalia works to reduce people’s vulnerability, supporting them to realize their full potential, to build on their assets, and to become more resilient.

Nepal
Since 1984, LWF Nepal works with people at risk with socioeconomic, climate and disaster vulnerabilities, including refugees. LWF Nepal prioritizes women and girls, persons with disabilities, lower castes, internally displaced people, youth, ex-bonded laborers, and marginalized indigenous communities. It aims to enhance their voices and participation through developing community-based organizations and achieving equitable access to livelihoods, quality services, and protection and social cohesion.

Ethiopia
LWF has been operational in Ethiopia for over four decades, after establishing its presence in 1971 to alleviate the suffering caused by the severe drought in Ethiopia at the time. In 2022, LWF Ethiopia largely focused on humanitarian response due to the crises in the Northern part of the country. LWF responded to the humanitarian needs in Tigray and the Amhara region targeting the most vulnerable people.

Uganda
LWF has supported people in Uganda for 45 years and currently works through 7 sub-programs covering more than 20 districts. Iraq
LWF has been present in Iraq since 2014, supporting internally displaced people, host communities and Syrian refugees. Initially, LWF implemented projects in Iraqi Kurdistan, which hosted the majority of IDPs. In 2018, LWF expanded its activities to the Nineveh Plains, working mainly through local partners. LWF Iraq has a strong focus on livelihoods, social cohesion and WASH.

South Sudan faced a devastating civil war in December 2013, which continued into 2016. LWF South Sudan has adopted a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach to provide critical assistance and support. Colombia - Venezuela
Since 2001 in Colombia and 2019 in Venezuela, LWF responds to emergencies and needs caused by armed conflict, natural disasters, and migration, supporting affected communities, migrants and local leaders.In Colombia, LWF provides access to safe water, livelihoods, protection and social cohesion. In Venezuela, LWF supports local partners in the implementation of a multi-sectoral response to the humanitarian crisis.
