Cardiff became the capital of Wales in 1955, and it is its main commercial centre.

Cardiff is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United Kingdom. Among its attractions we find: Cardiff Castle, St Fagans Castle, Bishop's Palace and Castle Coch.

Cardiff castle

Cardiff Castle is a major tourist attraction in the city and is situated in the city centre. It is a mediaval castle built in the late 11th century by Norman invaders.In the middle of 18th century, Cardiff Castle passed into the hands of the Stuart dynasty and when the last marquess died, the castle was given to the City of Cardiff. Today the castle is run as a tourist attraction but it has also served as a venue for festivals.

St fagans castle

St Fagans Castle is an Elizabethan mansion which now is home of the National History Museum.

bishop's palace

The Bishop's Palace is the ruined residence of the bishops of Llandaff. It was a really small medieval fortress with three towers. One of the towers was square and another was round, while the third has disappeared completely.

castle Coch

Castle Coch is a 19th century castle built in South Wales. The castle has been used as a location for filming several films an television programmes, including the science fiction Doctor Who.

Sports

Cardiff hosts many sporting events at a local, national and international level.In 1999, the Millennium Stadium became the national stadium of Wales, in fact it is home stadium to the Wales national rugby and football teams for international matches.
