Advanced Placement (AP)

AP Policy Overview
- scores of 3 or higher are considered for college credit awards

IB Policy overview
- credits are awarded for subjects in which the student has earned a grade of 4 or higher
- students who earn an IB diploma (not a certificate) will be awarded 5 more quarter credits toward UW graduation requirements.
- A maximum of 45 quarter credits may be awarded for IB.

A Level & AS Level exams
Official A Level or AS Level exam certificate must submitted to the Office of Admissions To submit your A/AS Level transcript: Mail Official Transcript or send through your high school councelor Once an official copy of the final exam certificate is received by the Office of Admissions, credit will be recorded on your UW student record

A ANd AS Level Policy Overview
- 15 quarter credits will be granted for A Level exams with a passing grade and 7.5 quarter credits for AS level exams with a passing grade.
- A maximum of 45 quarter credits (one year) awarded for A level and AS level exams may be applied towards a UW degree.
- No world language credit is awarded when it is the student’s first language.
- No grades are posted for A Level or AS Level exams.

Send your final official transcripts
Request one official transcript from each institution you have ever attended, regardless of length of attendance. It is your responsibility to contact each institution to request that transcripts be sent to the Office of Admissions by the appropriate deadline.Deadlines to submit official transcripts: January 10 for winter quarter April 10 for spring quarter July 15 for summer and autumn quarter
Official transcripts can also be sent through Parchment (formerly Naviance) or Transcript Network/Credential Solutions (formerly eScripSafe). When sending an electronic transcript, select the University of Washington as the destination. Do not send electronic transcripts to any email address.

Transfer credit timeline
Transfer credit for AP exams will be posted to your UW record on or after mid-July.Transfer credit for IB exams will be posted in late August.Transfer credit for AS and A Level exams will be posted to your UW record sometime during autumn quarter . Official certificates for AS and/or A level exams taken in June are generally issued in October or November.
NEXT STEPS
Credit Evaluation: Once your transcripts are received, the Admissions Office will evaluate your exam scores and determine the transferable credits. They will notify you of the credits awarded, typically during the admissions process or shortly after.
