Arcane: Rebellion of Zaun is a themepark area based on the universe of the netflix series "Arcane" produced by Riot Games and the animation studio Fortiche. This series tells the story of the origins of the region of Piltover and Zaun, part of the world of Runeterra, specific to the game League of Legends.

Advertising visual of the series and readaptation for the park area

A city splits in two. Piltover and Zaun. And with this city, two sisters also who will evolve in different ways. Life will be punctuated by a war where technological advances will bring disorder and chaos to the streets of Zaun while Piltover continues to be the city of progress. Until the moment when distress crosses the bridge between the two cities.

Act 1 - Ep1

Act 2 - Ep2

The storyline of the zone can be read in two ways: Either in a simplistic way in case the series has not been watched. Or in a chronological way continuing the plot of the series with references.

Basic History:

Chronologic History:

Visitors stroll through the streets of Zaun. A city angry at Piltover's hold. They will follow Jinx, an important character of the series in the attacks that she leads against the city of progress and that at the same time, leads the two cities in an inevitable confrontation. And this despite the attempts to restore stability.

The situation of the thematic area is 2 years after the events of the last episode. Jinx launches a rocket on the building of the advisers of Piltover putting an end to the hopes of stability. Since that day, a new war between the two cities has taken place and Piltover and Zaun are even more opposed. Jinx continues to attack the upper city and steals its technologies. The hextech, energy at the origin of the disorder is now in all the streets of Zaun. However, the resistants who still dare to believe in a better life have taken refuge in a part of the underground city. But one thing is clear. The only solution is to stop the madness of Jinx, herself a legacy of the tormenting history of the former sister of Zaun's main resistance fighter.

Act 3 Ep9

Architecture:

The architecture of Piltover is symmetrical, orderly and richly decorated. Each inhabitant presents his wealth on the facades reminiscent of classicism in architecture and Haussmannian buildings. Zaun has a more industrial architecture, with many pipes and a lot of bricks, typical of northern France and northern Europe. The houses are modest, but their numbers form ensembles of substantial size and high density.

In order to create a theme park area based on the Arcane series, it is important to know the universe of the Piltover and Zaun regions. And to see their evolution according to the chronological passage chosen.

Atmosphere:

initial concept art of the area:

The visitor will move through the streets of Zaun. Where Piltover is an airy city, safe and clean. Zaun is bathed in a charged atmosphere. The many buildings and the deep location of the city mean that it has almost no natural light, everything is from the inhabitants. The streets are narrow, dirty, crowded and a green fog is constantly present in the streets of the city.

Before entering the streets of Zaun, visitors will have to pass through the Place du Progrès and then take the various passageways leading into the darkness of the streets.

The design of buildings is done in several stages: - Analyze the architectural features - Create concept arts, put on paper the original idea - Reproduce the paper rendering in digital

The buildings of Zaun will be the ones in which the visitors will evolve. They can accommodate the stores and are the best detailed even though it serves an industrial and overcrowded look.

When visiting the streets of Zaun, it's also important to visit its strongholds! For example, visitors can visit 'The Last Drop' bar, an important venue in the series. Inside, there's a real bar where visitors can try some Zaunian drinks. The former bar owned by Vander, Vi and Jinx's adoptive father (Powder), has since been taken over by Silco. As it stands, the shop's appearance is that given by Silco.

Zaun is home to many buildings, some of which have a story to tell or honour a character from the series. This is where Caitlyn, the sheriff of Zaun from Piltover, has set up her office. This is also where the fight against Jinx is waged.

This building is a tribute to Heimerdinger, the founder of the city of Piltover, who was forced to leave Piltover to live in Zaun. Being a scientist, he had a new laboratory set up here. The laboratory reacted to contact with the hextech.

Piltover's buildings are high up in the area. They appear inaccessible and offer a contrast with the streets of the area. Their purpose is to confirm that the visitor is in Zaun.

This expansion is based on the community created around the character of Ekko. Ekko's aim is to fight Silco and the trade that Silco brings to Zaun, bringing misery and violence. Ekko brings the message that a brighter future is possible within this city, contrary to the vision brought by the first part of the zone.

"The Playground" is conceived as an extension of the original area. In it, visitors continue to wander around Zaun, but this time with the aim of discovering the inhabitants who are still living in the hope of improving Zaun's living conditions. This part of the zone is intended to be more family-friendly, with a less hectic atmosphere.

digital rendering in video game and inspiration

Presentation of concept art with the digital rendering in video game. The design is inspired by the attraction "raid: into piltover.

It is an attraction that occupies a central position in the area. It's not the most accomplished, as it takes on the role of a "secondary" attraction, but it serves as a central thematic element around which visitors can move.

In this attraction, visitors will follow Jinx as she leaves her base to sneak into the sewers of Zaun and reach Piltover. All the while hiding from the Peacekeepers. Once they reach the surface of Piltover, the visitors will take to the skies to destabilise the city of progress.

The zone's main attraction is a roller coaster that presents the entire storyline of "Arcane: Rebellion of Zaun". It sits at the back of the zone, allowing visitors to get a feel for the atmosphere before taking part in the adventure.

The attraction invites visitors to enter a building belonging to Jinx. Once past his workshop and several rooms in line, visitors are invited to board Jinx's bombs. The bombs will be dropped into a lift (a reference to episode 1), after which they will be launched in the direction of Piltover. After that, Jinx is going to have a fit of madness.

A family attraction, it complements the initially sensational offer of the first part of the project by offering an experience for all the family. It is in keeping with the playground's desire to escape the more serious atmosphere.

The attraction is a machine created by Ekko and his companions. Its purpose is to entertain the inhabitants of Zaun so that they forget the troubles of the underground city. To achieve this, Ekko wanted to use the style of the Piltover Bridge to take visitors away from Zaun for a moment.
