Presbiterianismo, matemático, estadístico y pionero de las matemáticas aplicadas modernas

Trabajó ANVA, Diseño de Experimentos y la distribución F de Fisher-Snedecor. Fundó el 1er departamento de estadísticas en EEUU en la Universidad Estatal de Iowa. Creó el 1er laboratorio estadístico. Publicó su libro Statistical Methods en 1938.

Falleció el 15/02/1974
