What it is?
The Johnson-Su Bioreactor is a machin that produces diverse fungally dominat microbial inoculant, that interacts symbiotical with plants to sequester carbon in soils, it is in charge to increase plant growth and fruit production, among other benefits.
What does it do?
It is designed to bring healthy microorganism back to soil to improve plants health and growth. In diference between with other methods the Joshnson-Su method allows the compost to break down fully to produce mature compost.
Who invented?
David Johnson and his wife Hui-Chun Su Johnson
They create it by encouraging microbial communities to increase both in numbers of organisms and in diversity, the Johnson-Su bioreactor composting system produces high quality, nutrient-rich, fungal-dominated, high microbial, and biodiverse compost.
Of what materials it is made up?
Needed material under ( 50$ )
- Landscape fabric
- One pallet
- Wire re-mesh (6” x 6” x 10 gauge wire)
- Four 10’ lengths of perforated bell 4" end piping
- PVC glue
- Tie wire
- 13’ of ½’’ landscape water hose
Fun facts
does not generate unpleasant odors. Its biological decomposition not only provides nutrients, but also a large microbial community, especially beneficial fungiDecreases nitrate-nitrogen being deposited in waterways. Does not impact in-field management, require little-to-no maintenance. Vegetation on top of the bioreactor can have habitat benefits. Have a lifespan of 10 – 15 before woodchips need to be replace.
