DNA is Genetic Material
DNA stands for DEOXYRIBONUCLEIC ACID:
- Controls protein production in cells.
- Made up of many genes which controls traits
Why DNA is Important?
- Passes genetic information from generation to generation.
- Traits are controlled by DNA.
- DNA replicates with little error.
- Can not live without DNA because it part of everything in the body.
DNA Structure
- DNA is a double Helix meaning DNA has two strands. It looks like a twisted ladder.
- DNA is polymer made up of units called NUCLEOTIDES
The nucleotides joined together in a long chain

Exposition topics
1. Discovery of DNA: Biography and experiments on DNA by Friedrich Miescher. 2. Contributions to the structure of DNA: James Watson, Francis Crick, Maurice Wilkins and Rosalind Franklin. 3. DNA replication: Double helix structure addressing the basic components of DNA and how they form bonds. 4. DNA transcription: Mechanisms and enzymes involved in this process, emphasizing accurate replication for genetic inheritance. 5. RNA translation: Translation of mRNA into proteins, the role of ribosomes, tRNA, and amino acids. 6. Genetic mutations: Causes and types of mutations. Impact of mutations on organisms and evolution. 7. Gene regulation: Control mechanisms that regulate gene expression, their importance, and functioning in organisms. 8. DNA and medicine: The importance of DNA in diagnosing genetic diseases, advances in gene therapy, and personalized medicine based on DNA.
