C. J. Tudor is a native of Salisbury and grew up in Nottingham. She lives in Sussex with her husband and young daughter. Her love of writing, especially the macabre and sinister, manifested itself early on. Over the years she has had jobs as diverse as journalist, radio writer, announcer, television presenter, copywriter, and now writer. The Chalk Man, They Took Annie Thorne and The Others are her previous books.

Plot

It is a book of psychological pressure, which deoctrinates in 2 distinct temporal moments, the past (1986) and the present (2016). It is narrated in the first person, by Eddie Munster. It starts in the town of Anderbury, where there was a group of four friends, around the age of 12. At that time they created a secret code, chalk drawings of straw men on the street floor.

Meanwhile, a mysterious drawing led them to a dismembered body sprawled in a wood.

Plot

During this period, from 1986 to 2016, Eddie and his friends strive to overcome the past, however on a certain day (present) they receive a new warning regarding the chalk men. And after one of his friends turns up dead, Eddie realizes that he needs to find out what really happened in the past.

And from here on, the book tells us about the adventures and mysteries that occurred, not only in the present but also in the past
