The present perfect is used to talk about a past experience we have done but we don't say the time
When to use the present perfect?

An action that has just finished expressed with the adverb "Just"
I have just finished my work
An action that started in the past but continues in the present
I have visited Rome many times
An action performed in a time is irrelevant: we are interested in the result
He has read "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer"
Present perfect
An action followed for a period of time and not yet finished
