Passive Voice
The passive voice is used to show interest in the person or object that experiences an action rather than the person or object that performs the action.
Examples: The passive voice is used frequently. (= we are interested in the passive voice, not in who uses it.) The house was built in 1654. (= we are interested in the house, not in who built it.) The road is repaired. (= we are interested in the road, not in the people who are doing the repairs.)

the titanic history
The Titanic was built in 1912. It was designed in a new way and it was thought to be unsinkable. Because of this, it wasn’t given enough lifeboats for the passengers and crew. The hull was damaged by a collision with a huge iceberg and it sank very fast. A total of 1,513 people were drowned that day. Because of this disaster, a lot of magazines were printed in many languages, new international safety laws were passed and Ice Patrol was established. In 1985 the wreck was located on the sea bed and the ship was explored. Several successful films have been made about the Titanic since then, and the most recent was released in 1997.
