1. WHAT IS A FUNCTION?

A fuction is a relation of two variables, x and y. X is called independent variable and y is called dependent variable. X is the horizontal axis and Y the vertical axis. These two exis cross in one point, the origin of coordinates. There are several ways to plot a function:

2.FUCTIONS IN DAILY LIFE

This graph represents bacterial growth at 72ºF. We can see the number of cells that is represented in intervals of 500 years and the time in hours. In 12 hours bacterial growth increases, going from 1 cell to 410 cells. In the first phase the bacterial growth is increasing a little, going from 1 cell to 32 cells in 5 hourst. Then, up to 8 hours it increases to 2562 cells. After that it increases more going from 256 cells to 2048 in just 3 hours.Finally, up to 12 hours it increases to 4096 cells.

IIn this graph we can analyze the change of gasoline's prize between the years 2000 and 2007. In 2000, the prize of gasoline is 1,5 euros. In 2001 it decreases to 1 euro , in 2002 it increases again to 1,5 euros,in 2003 it increases a little more than last year and it is about 1,6 euros. In 2004 it increases to 2 euros and in 2005 to 2,4 euros. In 2006 it reaches its higher prize, 3,4 euros and finally in 2007 it decreases to 3 euros.

In this graph we can analyze life expectancy in México with respect to age of men and women between 1930 and 2016.. In 1930 the average age of men and women was around 34 years old. In 1950 it increases to 47 years old. Then, in 1970 it was 61 years old. It continued going up and in 1990 the average age was 72 years. After that, in 2000 it increases to 74 years. In 2010 the average age continued being 74 years and finally in 2016 it was about 75 years old.

In this graph we can see packs of tobacco sold between the years 2000 and 2015. From the year 2000 to the year 2015 packs of tobacco have been increasingsteadily with ups and downs, from the year 2005 to 2008 they decreased. In the 2015 they were decreasing very quickly and a lot of amount. This means that many people changed their mind and started to quit smoking.

3.CONCLUSIONS

Fuctions are an important daily thing because we can use them to represent things such us increasing of people, number of suicides in spain, average of age... It is interesting because it is important to study some useful aspects in life and for jobs. With fuctions you can study the diference between years or the aggavation of conditions in your country or in the whole world. They can transmit information about how variables are related.
