IMMIGRATION AND EMIGRATION
The term emigration means "leaving from one's country", so it consists of the social phenomenon that leads a person or a portion of a population to move from one's place of origin to another country.
The reasons that can start both of these phenomena can be many: for economic, political, social, religious, sentimental reasons, but also for work and education reasons, or to escape justice or war.
The term immigration, on the other hand, means "arriving in another country", therefore it indicates the transfer of one or more people to a country other than that of origin, which can be permanent or temporary.
"To Be Free "
by Passenger
This song tells the story of Passenger, whose real name is Mike Rosenberg's, paternal grandparents, who were Jews living in France during World War II. They fled to Switzerland and stayed there in a refugee camp. Rosenberg's grandparents then moved to the States after the war, where they raised their four children, including the singer's dad.
