Rating Scale

Later on you will be asked to rate a variety of different activities. This page shows you the rating scale. For example, if you rated "installing kitchen cabinets" with a frowning face and a tongue, that would mean you would stronly dislike that activity.

Do NOT think about...

Ignore potential salaries or required education at this stage. This will come later on. Try to answer each question based on what you would truly enjoy.

Not a Test

While you make your way through this, have fun with it! This is all about you and your intrests, so there are no right or wrong answers. In the end, every person will have different results.

Time to Rate

After the instructions, it is time to start rating different activities. You will be asked to go through 5 pages of activities, but it won't take you too long.

Review

After rating each question, you will be given the option to return to the first page and start over OR go through the questions you rated "unsure." You do not have to go back, but rating activities above or below "unsure" will make your results more specific.

Results

Before giving you a list of careers, ONET will rate your interests on a numeric scale. The higher the number, the more likely you are to enjoy a career which involves these traits. While on the website, click on the blue words to learn more about each key term. Your worksheet will ask you to write down your numbers as shown on the left side of the website. It will also ask you if you agree with your results.

What Next?

On this page, ONET is simply explaining what a job zone is. In summary, a job zone takes into consideration the level of training and education needed to pursue a specific career. You will soon be asked to select a job zone. ONET will combine your interests and job zone to create a list of careers for you.

Current or Future?

When it comes to selecting a job zone, you can choose the zone you would be in today OR you can choose the zone you are comfortable pursuing in your future. For example, if you are interested in obtaining a bachelor's degree, you may want to choose that job zone. You can always start with one job zone and then click back to look into another.

Job Zones

Take your time to read about each job zone. To do this, click on the blue titles found on the ONET website. Later, you will be asked to select which of these zones you would like to look further into.

Job Zone Selection

ONET will now ask you to select a job zone which you feel most comfortable with. Remember you can think about what you are willing to pursue OR what you have already achieved! If you need to review, you can still click on each job zone to read more.

Review

Before you move on, ONET will give you a moment to take one last look at your numeric scores and your selected job zone. These are the pieces of information used to provide you with career suggestions.

Careers

At this stage, you will be given a list of careers that align with your interests and job zone selection. You can click on each career to learn more. There are also a variety of symbols you will see, Click below to learn more.
